VidyaOS Demo School (not a real school) — Our History

Four rented rooms on Sector 8 market road, eighty-four children and six teachers, July 1984. The society had bought nothing yet; the fees were ₹35 a month and the first year closed with a deficit the founding trustees covered themselves.

The move, and what it cost

The Rohini land was allotted in 1988 and the first block opened in 1991 with Classes I to VIII. The school ran two sites for three years, and the timetable of those years is still in the office because nobody could quite believe it worked.

CBSE upgradation to senior secondary came in 1996. The science block was rebuilt in 2018 after the old one was found to be settling, which cost a year of laboratory practicals in a shed and is the reason the current building has piles rather than a raft.

What has not changed

The assembly still runs eleven minutes. The first bell is still rung by hand. The society still has no shareholders and pays no dividend, and the audit report is still available to any parent who asks at the office.
